After that, he received his basic general surgery training at GSVM Medical College, Kanpur with honours like standing first in UPASICON conference. Thereafter, he went on to his basic neurosurgical training from G.B. Pant Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research (GIPMER), New Delhi with a silver medal in Best Paper Award for his thesis work in DNACON. In his quest for advanced learning in Neurosurgery, he trained in advanced microneurosurgery at Mumbai, Helsinki (Finland) & Sapporo (Japan). After training at various centers, he refined his surgical skills as Professor (Asst.), Neurosurgery at Safdarjung Hospital & Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, New Delhi & Apollomedics Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow where he did some innovative surgeries like high flow EC-IC bypass and epilepsy surgeries. Dr. Shankar has completed Fellowship (Cerebrovascular & Microneurosurgery) from Helsinki – Finland. He has received several recognitions as a neurosurgeon in his career spanning ten years. He has also presented several papers at various national and international conferences.
